| About the Venue | ||||
This section of river as again very comfortable pegs along the whole stretch, and has great sport for Barbel/Chub and Carp to name but a few. Same as the ferry field members can take their gear to their peg with their vehicles but again must then park at either end of the section. |

To get to Nelsons field, at the Burton Joyce level crossing go through the gate just over the crossing (Ashfield key), and follow the tarmac road along. From Burton Joyce village take the Station road turning opposite the small newsagent, go accross the Burton Joyce level crossing and drive along our Road day ticket stretch to the pub. Just past the pub you will see a small island/roundabout with the access gate to our Ferry Field stretch, Locked with Ashfield Key go through the gate and follow the trent up about a mile to the lock itself. Be very quiet when entering/ exiting hear and take extreme care when crossing the actual lock gates taking care to close the small wooden gates after you. Fishing on the island is only from the boat ramp and gravel area and NOT from the high wall or bull nose or into the lock itself. Ashfield members do have permission between October/ April to fish the concrete boat mooring at the entrance to the lock this is signposted, and can be accessed via steps at each end. We also have the same ruling on the boat mooring above the lock between these times. To get to our other stretch above the lock as you cross the cattle grid near the lock turn right just before the carpark and follow the grass track around to a gate (Ashfield Key) and follow the track around the field and up onto the trent bank where you can drive along a cinder track and park behind you peg all along the stretch all the way around the bend.
