C). It is better to educate anglers than to lay down bans.
Section O. PREDATOR ANGLING:
- All fish to be treated with the greatest respect and care. Pike are far more fragile than their reputation suggests.
- All predators, pike, zander, perch, eels and catfish shall be returned alive to the water.
- A). Tackle should meet the requirements of the sport.
B). Rods with test curve 2.5lbs used for pike, reels should be able to carry heavy lines.
C). Mono line should be 15lbs minimum breaking strain. 30lbs b.s. if using braided line.
D). Traces should have a length of wire line attached to the hook, minimum length of 18 inches with a minimum breaking strain of 28lbs fine wire. e. Use swivels to attach wire to line; a wire loop will cut through nylon or braid.
E). Landing nets should be knotless and large enough to do the job. 40 inch minimum triangular and 30 inch minimum round nets.
F). Hooks should be barbless or semi- barbless.
G). 2 unhooking forceps, at least, one at least 12 inch long.
H). Wire cutters capable of easily cutting the hooks.

- Recommended for new or novice anglers to predator fishing when live baiting insert the top treble hook in the dorsal fin and the bottom hook behind the pectoral fin. This reduces the risk of deep hooking the fish.
- Recommended for new and novice anglers to predator fishing when dead baiting with a ledgered bait insert the top hook into the tail root and the top hook no higher than the back of the dorsal fin. This reduces the risk of deep hooking the fish.
- A). Never wait for second run; always assume that the fish is bigger than it is.
B). If float in moving and line is running out, strike sooner rather than later.
C). Point rod at the fish, wind down till you feel the fish then lift up the rod firmly to set the hooks.
D). Do not snatch at the rod or the bait or hooks will pull out.
E). A missed fish is preferable to a deep hooked fish.
